A Costly Problem
With rising acuity levels, the risks of patient falls, side-rail entrapment and serious injury are also on the rise. Fall related injuries break bones, spirits and budgets. They are physically and emotionally traumatic to the patient, family members and healthcare providers. The cost of a non-fatal fall averages more than $20,000 Nationwide. That’s more than $20 billion annually.

Protection Pays
Maintain patient’s strength and balance with good nutrition and hydration. Promote mobility and practice safe transferring techniques. Create a safe-zone to minimize risks and injury.

A decade ago, Comfortex® introduced the Landing Strip™ floor mat - and the unusually thin, surprisingly firm, incredibly effective innovative design has protected countless nursing home residents from fall-related injuries.

While the Landing Strip™ continues to be copied, it’s our blend of unique materials, construction and commitment to quality which separates us from all the others.

ls-nite-glo

  • Only 1 inch thick with tapered-to-the-floor edging.
  • Prevents tripping and permits carts, chairs, beds and tables to roll over easily.
  • A blend of ultra-high-density core foams.
  • When covered, cheaper cores may look the same…but won’t perform the same.
  • Heavy duty vinyl cover, bonded to provide greater impact distribution.
  • Helps transfer the force of a falling patient into and across the surface.
  • Non-slip vinyl base prevents slipping away from the bedside.
  • Sealed construction.
  • Wipes clean to protect appearance and performance.

Available Sizes: 24” x 70” x 1” and 36” x 70” x 1”

Color and dimensions may vary slightly due to the production process.

Nite-GloNow Available!

Nursing is programmed to pick up things on the patient room floor. But the Landing Strip is designed to remain alongside your patient’s bed day and night. It guards against injury should a fall occur. With the addition of the Landing Strip Nite-Glo™, the border of the mat stands out, even in a dimly lit room, announcing its presence to both patients and staff.

If there’s a fine line between ineffective and effective… our bedside floor mat has crossed it.

Test Results : the Landing Strip from Comfortex

thickerpads

In 2000, Comfortex designed, tested and introduced the Landing Strip floor cushion. It proved to have an ability to minimize impact forces to protect patients from bedside injury should a fall occur. Thousands of Landing Strips now serve residents and healthcare providers across the nation.

Recent testing done by the TUV/NTS, Detroit Division, further illustrates the design’s superiority over much thicker and more cumbersome pads.

The testing laboratory dropped a 16 lb. weight from heights of 12’’, 18” and 24”. Testing measured G-forces generated upon impact and the product’s ability to de-accelerate the falling object gradually vs. suddenly.

(Example : a falling object attached to a bungee cord de-accelerates over a greater time span vs. an object suddenly stopped by a non-flexible cable).

Impact Test Results (peak G-Forces)
12” 18” 24” Avg. De-Acceleration Time
1” Landing Strip 57 101 152 8.0 mili. sec
2.5” 30 IFD Foam Pad Vinyl Covered 211 630 740 1.6 mili. sec.
2.5” 30 IFD Foam Pad Nylon Covered 427 656 858 1.0 mili. sec.
Solid Floor 726 1014 1390 0.4 mili. sec.
  • Impact reductions were 4 to 9 times better with the Landing Strip design.
  • De-Acceleration was 5 to 20 times better with the Landing Strip design.

“Not One Single Injury…”
“I believe it is the best thing since sliced bread. We have had several falls on the mat and not one single injury.”
Quality Assurance, Millersburg, PA

“Really Good Results…”
“We have had really good results with this product. We are happy with the way it looks and performs. I wouldn’t change anything.”
Director of Nursing, Danville, PA
